The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Commercial Lead to drive our commercial strategy and activities, enhancing our market competitiveness within the construction and infrastructure sectors, particularly in the marine projects domain. This is a critical role that will leverage your expertise in commercial management, negotiation, and client relationship development to secure new business opportunities and optimise project contracts.


Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Lead, you will be instrumental in:

  • Commercial Strategy & Growth: Leading the development and execution of our commercial strategy to enhance market competitiveness and identify new opportunities within the construction and infrastructure sectors.
  • Business Development: Cultivating and nurturing strong client relationships to secure new business opportunities and expand our market presence.
  • Tender & Proposal Management: Overseeing the meticulous preparation and submission of tenders and proposals, ensuring full compliance with specified requirements and industry best practice.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinating effectively with various internal departments to ensure that project objectives are meticulously aligned with our overarching commercial goals.
  • Market Analysis: Conducting thorough analysis of market trends to proactively identify avenues for growth, particularly within the dynamic modern port infrastructure and marine construction markets.
  • Negotiation & Optimisation: Directly leading high-stakes negotiations with key stakeholders and clients to optimise project contracts and agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly monitoring project performance, providing insightful updates and comprehensive reports to senior management.
  • Financial Management: Ensuring strict adherence to budgetary constraints and actively driving initiatives to enhance the financial performance and profitability of contracts.
  • Operational Efficiency: Spearheading initiatives aimed at improving overall operational efficiency and maximising profitability across our projects.

Essential Qualifications

  • A proven background in commercial management within the construction industry or related fields, with a demonstrable track record of success.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, capable of influencing outcomes and building strong relationships.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed strategic choices.
  • Familiarity with various construction contracts and a solid understanding of financial reporting principles.

Desired Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior commercial role or an equivalent position, demonstrating progressive responsibility and leadership.
