The Opportunity
This is a career-defining opportunity to lead the entire Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) delivery on one of the UK's most significant and complex construction projects.

As a key member of the senior leadership team for this £1.5 billion state-of-the-art hospital, you will hold ultimate responsibility for successfully delivering all building services from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
You'll be joining a forward-thinking Tier 1 contractor renowned for delivering landmark schemes across the country. This long-term project presents an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on the nation's healthcare infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Act as the single point of contact and authority for all MEP-related aspects of the project. Lead, manage, and mentor a large, multidisciplinary team of MEP managers, coordinators, and commercial staff.
  • Design Management: Oversee the development of the MEP design from RIBA Stage 3/4, ensuring compliance with all client requirements, specifications, and critical healthcare standards ( HTM/HBN ). Drive innovation and value engineering solutions.
  • Procurement & Commercial Oversight: Lead the procurement, negotiation, and appointment of all MEP subcontractor packages. You will work closely with the commercial team to manage the multi-million-pound MEP budget, control costs, and oversee variations.
  • Programme & Delivery: Take full ownership of the MEP construction programme. You'll ensure installation works are planned and executed safely, to the highest quality standards, and in line with the overall project schedule.
  • Technical Assurance & Compliance: Guarantee that all MEP systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, British Standards, and stringent hospital regulations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison between the client, design consultants, specialist subcontractors, and internal project teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Develop and execute a robust commissioning and handover strategy, ensuring all systems are fully operational and end-user training is successfully completed for a smooth transition to the hospital trust.

Candidate Profile
We're looking for a seasoned and highly credible building services leader with a proven track record of delivering major, complex projects.
Essential Requirements:
  • Significant experience as an MEP Project Director, MEP Lead, or Senior MEP Manager working directly for a Tier 1 main contractor .
  • Demonstrable experience leading the MEP package on at least one major project valued over £250 million .
  • Healthcare sector experience is crucial. You must have a strong working knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and Health Building Notes (HBN) standards.
  • Expert knowledge across all stages of a project lifecycle, from design and procurement to commissioning and handover.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE or the IET.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large MEP budgets.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
