MEICA Project Engineer - Water Industry
The Opportunity
To drive and manage the MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) elements of various wastewater projects. The role involves managing subcontractors and designers, contributing to overall project delivery, and ensuring programme and budget constraints are met. Safety and quality are paramount, with responsibility for inspections and testing to maintain high standards.As a fundamental member of the MEICA team and wider project team, you will support and encourage other team members, including graduates and apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management

Manage MEICA elements of wastewater projects

Assist in placing subcontracts and material orders

Plan and programme works, supporting the wider project team

Coordinate MEICA works to support design progress
Technical Duties

Interpret discipline-related drawings
-
Review subcontractor designs for compliance with standards

Conduct equipment inspections and testing, including FATs and SATs
-
Support site commissioning as required
Quality and Safety
-
Maintain quality assurance records, including ITPs and vesting

Conduct safety and quality inspections
-
Vet subcontractors and inspect their production, quality, and installation
Stakeholder Management

Liaise with clients and attend site progress meetings

Produce reports and correspondence

Provide technical assistance on contractual matters
Additional Responsibilities

Support production of operating and maintenance manuals

Resolve snagging and maintenance issues during defects liability period
-
Supervise subcontractors during critical activities
Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
-
Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification
-
Experience in a contractor role within the water industry, specifically sewage and water treatment works

Understanding of NEC4 contracts and budget control
Skills and Attributes

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail

Ability to supervise site staff

Knowledge of project management techniques for water/sewage treatment works
