Company Overview:

Join a leading construction firm involved in the largest rail and infrastructure project in the north of England over the next five years. This multi-disciplinary project, valued at approximately £2 billion, focuses on upgrading the existing railway route between Manchester and Leeds through the Pennines.

Your Mission:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the project by:

  • Upholding high personal safety and environmental standards in line with company policy.

  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and policies.

  • Maintaining effective communication across all disciplines within the alliance and the business.

  • Assisting in staff matters, including behavioral issues, competency, and staff allocation to meet project needs.

  • Conducting staff performance and development reviews and supporting the commercial training program.

  • Engaging with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.

  • Managing subcontractors commercially, including processing payments, obtaining final account agreements, and resolving issues through negotiation.

  • Monitoring the timely production of cost performance data and initiating discussions on project performance.

  • Producing and presenting monthly/quarterly cost reports.

  • Identifying and evaluating changes.

  • Ensuring timely production of applications for payments.

  • Providing commercial advice to the site team and management on contractual issues.

  • Supporting the production of financial assessments of insurance claims.

Who We Are Looking For:

Necessary Requirements:

  • Membership in CICES or RICS.

  • Thorough knowledge of construction processes and working methods.

  • Successful experience at the Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

  • Demonstrable ability to mentor and coach colleagues.

  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract forms.

  • Track record of managing multiple suppliers.

  • Proven ability to maintain and enhance client relationships.

  • Experience working on alliances or joint ventures.

  • Experience in rail projects.

  • Familiarity with ICC/NEC forms of contract.

  • Experience with large civil engineering structures.
