The Opportunity:
We seek an energetic, enthusiastic, people-focused, electrically biased senior design manager with healthcare experience to join our healthcare team, which will support live and pipeline projects in Brighton, Bristol, Calderdale, and Cambridge. If staying away from home 2-3 nights a week, we cover hotel expenses, evening meals, and travel expenses. This Senior Design Manager will lead the delivery of effective design across a single large-scale project. They will focus on and lead the pre-construction phase design processes, liaising with the client, the design team, the in-house bid team, and the operations team. On live projects, they will implement and lead processes that enable the design to be challenged and interrogated within a collaborative team framework to reduce risks. The Senior Design Manager will be a senior Design Job Family and Technical Function member, ensuring technical excellence, assurance, and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement, and work winning through to detailed delivery.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a focus for and lead pre-construction phase briefing and design processes
- Lead design management procedures, providing a functional link between commercial and construction teams and designers throughout the project life
- Implement processes for design challenge and interrogation within a collaborative team framework
- Implement agreed processes for production, control, and distribution of design information at different project stages
- Ensure regular progress reporting of the design
- Ensure thorough review of design information for buildability, safety, maintainability, completeness, compliance, and technical suitability before use
- Assist the Design Leader in promoting innovation in design management, methodology, processes, and practices
- Assist the Design Leader in promoting the application and adoption of the company's vision and values in all design management activities
Skills & Experience Required:
- End-to-end experience in managing design – from concept to handover
- First degree in Electrical Engineering or other appropriate construction-related qualification plus design-related experience
- Healthcare sector specialism and deep, broad experience managing the design of construction or building services projects
