Job Summary
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a major port infrastructure project, including all subcontract administration, cost and value reporting, and assistance in main contract change management and reporting.Key Responsibilities
Subcontract Administration
- Oversee subcontract administration for various project aspects, including design, site set-up, civil works, marine works, building, and MEP works- Manage and administer multiple subcontracts using NEC4 Option A/C/E Subcontract and NEC4 PSC Contract Option A/C/E for design contracts
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and management systems
Financial Management
- Manage monthly payment processes for subcontracts within contractual timelines- Produce monthly cost and value reports, including cash flow forecasts, for senior management
- Work with the estimating manager to review and update construction stage estimates based on latest designs
Change Management
- Coordinate with package managers to handle the change management process for subcontracts- Draft contractor instructions and review NCEs and quotations for compensation events
- Register, notify, and evaluate early warning procedure events
Contract Management
- Manage the project's main designer contract, assisting the design team with cost information- Provide contractual advice to commercial, construction, and engineering departments
- Prepare contractual correspondence and respond to communications from the project manager
- Assist in assessing changes to the accepted programme and costing value engineering proposals
Team Management and Collaboration
- Manage quantity surveying team and assistant Quantity Surveyors during the construction stage- Work closely with the Procurement Manager on commercial and financial aspects of contracts
- Assist the commercial manager in educating the project team on NEC contract requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Professional Certifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent numerate/commercial discipline- Member or Associate Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or working towards membership
- CSCS Card holder
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Extensive experience with NEC 3 or 4 contracts, particularly in administering NEC 3 or Subcontract (Option A / B / C / E)- Strong understanding of EU and UK legislative requirements affecting procurement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Industry Experience
- Significant experience working for a Main Contractor on large Civil Engineering/infrastructure projects- Proven track record in commercial management and quantity surveying within the construction industry
