Technical Manager - Large Marine Project
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee all technical aspects of a significant marine project. The successful candidate will lead a team of technical and administrative staff within an established country organisation.Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage and coordinate various technical packages (structural, architectural, MEP) developed by off-site teams- Integrate package designs with assistance from a Design Coordinator as needed
- Prepare method statements and procedures for site activities in collaboration with package engineers and construction teams
Health, Safety, and Quality
- Implement HSE rules and procedures in engineering and method documents- Ensure quality requirements are met in works methods and procedures
- Develop and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
Procurement and Logistics
- Oversee selection, approval, ordering, and delivery of all project materials- Manage subcontractor selection, prequalification, appointment, and monitoring
Planning and Reporting
- Develop project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and baseline schedule- Monitor and report on design, procurement, and construction activities
- Assist with cost analysis and control, including processing vendor and subcontractor invoices
Document Management
- Implement and operate an efficient document management system- Manage technical deliverables submittals and obtain client approvals
Change Management
- Assist Contract Manager with identifying, valuing, and managing technical changes- Manage and close out technical Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
Team Leadership
- Maintain service quality and operational efficiency within your team- Prioritise tasks to maximise work quality, efficiency, and continuity
- Prepare job descriptions and participate in team recruitment
Qualifications and Skills
- Civil Engineer or Architectural Engineer degree- Minimum 8 years' relevant experience in large construction projects
- Proven team leadership experience
- Fluent in English; additional languages advantageous
- Willingness to work abroad as an expatriate
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills
