Position: Director of Commercial Operations

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Salary: £100,000 - £120,000

Overview:

An expanding Facilities Management organisation is seeking a seasoned Director of Commercial Operations to join its executive team. This pivotal role involves crafting and executing commercial strategies to enhance value, manage risks, and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:

    • Formulate strategies for the conclusion of PFI and LIFT contracts, ensuring risk mitigation.

    • Evaluate lifecycle models to confirm compliance and funding adequacy.

    • Contribute strategically to bids, contract discussions, and growth initiatives.

  • Contract Oversight:

    • Supervise all contracts to ensure adherence to terms and maximise cost recovery.

    • Act as the primary contact for commercial escalations and dispute resolutions.

    • Drive value through the commercial function to maintain profitability and competitiveness.

  • Financial Management:

    • Enhance profitability via strong commercial governance and contract optimisation.

    • Ensure precise forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling in line with contract performance.

  • Stakeholder and Team Engagement:

    • Lead stakeholder interactions and foster team development and business growth.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience as a Commercial Director or Senior Commercial Manager in facilities management, PFI, or related sectors.

  • Profound understanding of PFI contract structures, performance standards, and financial mechanisms.

  • Experience collaborating with public sector entities such as NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, and Educational Institutions.

  • Strong financial insight and expertise in contract negotiations.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Professional membership such as MRICS or CIPS is advantageous.

  • Proven track record in leading successful bid processes and commercial support.

  • Values-driven, self-motivated, and experienced in team leadership.
