What you'll be doing:
The purpose of the role is:
- Implementation of the civils alliance delivery strategy
- Rigorously challenging all aspects of our cost base ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery
- Delivering internal and external customer satisfaction and maintaining unimpeachable professional standards
- Ensuring development needs of line reports are met and supporting the wider commercial function
- Ensuring a relentless focus on Zero Harm
- Supporting delivery of sustainability activities
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing commercial advice on health, safety and environmental issues
- Driving Zero Harm initiatives within the commercial team
- Managing resources, recruitment and staff development
- Reviewing tenders and cost data
- Coordinating commercial input for programmes and earned value management
- Managing monthly reporting and dispute resolution
- Procurement and supply chain management
Who we're looking for:
Essential:
- Experience mobilising contracts and implementing commercial systems
- Construction-related degree, preferably in Commercial Management/Quantity Surveying
- Experience managing change and business improvement
- Knowledge of construction law and contract types
- Ability to prepare estimates and tender submissions
Desirable:
- Track record managing large teams
- Experience mentoring and developing team members
- Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, CMI)
- Strong leadership skills
