Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead and deliver major structural steelwork projects within the nuclear sector. This is a pivotal role for an accomplished leader who will have full accountability for the project lifecycle, from pre-construction and design through to final handover. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring our unwavering commitment to health and safety is maintained while meeting all quality and commercial objectives to the highest standards. This role is critical for our continued success in the nuclear sector and offers significant scope for impact and career growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale nuclear sector projects, ensuring alignment with our standards and client requirements.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary project teams, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant nuclear industry regulations and safety standards, upholding our principle that all accidents are preventable.
  • Manage key client relationships and act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage multi-million-pound project budgets, forecasts, and schedules to achieve financial targets, providing regular, detailed progress reports.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Maintain and manage issue resolution logs and defined escalation paths.
  • Drive innovation and best practices in project management, constantly seeking to improve and innovate to deliver excellence.
  • Report on project progress, risks, and commercial status to the board and key internal stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in the delivery of large, complex projects within the nuclear sector or similarly regulated environments.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams on major construction or engineering projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing multi-million-pound project budgets.
  • A deep understanding of nuclear industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Chartered Engineer status or an equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
  • A willingness to travel and work across multiple locations as required by project demands.
