Project Overview:
We are embarking on a significant upgrade of our terminal facilities, aimed at boosting capacity and operational speed. This initiative aligns with long-term strategic plans to accommodate future growth in cargo volumes. Key improvements include optimising terminal layouts, electrifying equipment, and modernising berths.
Key Responsibilities:

Design Management:

Oversee all design phases, from initial concepts to construction-ready packages, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.

Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts, integrating civil, structural, mechanical, and IT systems.

Support procurement by providing timely documentation for proposal requests and participate in evaluating technical bids.

Ensure timely delivery and quality of project-specific materials and equipment.

Collaborate with engineering services to incorporate project needs into crane designs.

Lead technical discussions with unions to align with collective agreements.

Manage design interfaces to mitigate risks and minimise rework.

Work closely with construction management to ensure design feasibility and alignment with execution plans.

Ensure contractor designs meet company standards and are delivered on schedule.

Maintain accurate records of design changes and ensure they are reflected in final documentation.

Quality Assurance:

Implement robust quality control measures, including design reviews and third-party verifications.

Ensure inspection and quality plans meet international standards and are included in tender documents.

Maintain traceability between requirements and final designs.

Participate in governance activities and contribute to project reviews.

Manage design risk registers and assess impacts of design changes.

Qualifications and Experience:

7-10 years of experience in infrastructure design, particularly in port and terminal environments.

Proven ability to coordinate complex, multidisciplinary design projects.

Strong understanding of local permitting processes and international design standards.

Ability to translate operational needs into technical designs.

Experience within client organisations and in terminal construction is advantageous.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

A Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is highly desirable.

Professional Engineering registration in the US is preferred.

Familiarity with project design and approval processes with regulatory bodies is beneficial.

Professional certifications such as PMP or equivalent are a plus.
