Project Manager - Steel Work Structure Construction
Role Overview
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the planning, management and coordination of the steel work structure construction and associated subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, a collaborative approach and the ability to meet construction programme goals whilst achieving quality and sustainability standards.Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Provide information for short and long-form reports on superstructure and concourse progress, costs and forecasts- Attend delivery meetings and deputise for the Senior Project Manager as needed
- Coordinate between construction, design, procurement and commercial departments
- Ensure superstructure sub-contracts are awarded and work begins according to schedule
Team Leadership
- Create a high-performing superstructure team through SMART target setting- Promote a collaborative environment among team members, stakeholders and supply chain
- Establish and maintain site organisation and effective communication
- Manage performance and ensure appropriate training is delivered
Quality and Safety
- Promote and deliver works according to industry standards without defects- Monitor work to achieve right-first-time workmanship
- Conduct lessons learnt reviews for continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
Client Relations
- Receive and manage instructions from the client Project Manager team- Understand levels of authority for receiving instructions from client Construction Manager or Supervisor
Technical Competencies
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal- Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
- Commercial acumen with experience in project controls and budget delivery
- NEC contract experience
- Organisational and people management skills

Qualifications and Experience
Education and Professional Memberships
- Degree or higher in a numerate discipline (or HNC/HND with relevant experience)- Membership in an appropriate Professional body
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD and collaborative platforms- CSCS Card holder
- Safety for Senior Managers training
Relevant Experience
- Complex station/transport interchange infrastructure build- Mid-management roles on similar scope and scale projects
- Piling and reinforced concrete structures construction management
- Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Experience with major infrastructure clients
- Managing consents, utility suppliers and stakeholders
