Senior Procurement Manager – Rail (Buildings)

Are you a strategic-thinking construction Procurement Manager keen to work on the biggest and best projects? Do you have sub-contract procurement experience? We have an exciting opportunity in our Rail buildings sector for a dynamic individual with a passion for relationship building, sustainable procurement, best value and problem-solving.

In this role, you'll have a blank canvas to develop procurement strategies, policies and processes. You'll utilise your supply chain management skills to enhance collaborative relationships and improve our working methods.

As a Procurement Manager, you'll work on procurement strategy with the Procurement Leads, responsible for delivering project procurement objectives and requirements. You'll support the procurement and estimating team with tendering, market analysis and supplier selection.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver Business Procurement objectives as part of the project and senior management team
- Implement Project Procurement/Supply Chain/Category specific/strategic trades
- Provide market intelligence, cost advice and supply chain performance management
- Lead and support a team of Procurement professionals, including training and development
- Manage the procurement process for subcontractors, materials, plant and services
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance and Procurement best practice
- Monitor markets and provide alternative procurement strategies to maximise opportunities or minimise risk
- Produce management information and reports as per business requirements
- Champion innovation in procurement methods, materials, products and systems

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Strong negotiation skills
- Knowledge of legal and contracting law
- Risk and opportunity management expertise
- Project procurement strategy development
- Supply chain planning experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the construction industry and its relationships
- Ability to manage and develop operational procurement resources
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Track record of delivering robust procurement strategies
- Measured approach to decision-making and ensuring best value procurement
- Demonstrable added value through procurement activities

Desirable Qualifications:

- CIPS certification or working towards it
- Chartership in another discipline (CIOB or RICS)
- Relevant on-the-job experience will also be considered
