Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager

The Opportunity

To ensure the successful financial delivery and completion of projects, protecting against financial risks, whilst adhering to commercial procedures. Responsible for the commercial management of a large project or several smaller projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Reporting
- Coordinate with and report to Regional Director/Manager and Commercial Manager
- Submit timely data for contract performance monitoring and analysis
- Liaise with Project Managers on commercial administration of contracts

Contract Management
- Prepare and approve draft sub-contracts
- Ensure proper notices and submissions as per contract requirements
- Prepare main contract payment applications, including claims
- Assist in administering sub-contractor performance

Financial Management
- Manage prompt submission of payment applications and cash collection
- Produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and financial forecasts

Additional Duties
- Involvement in dispute avoidance/resolution
- Manage meetings
- Undertake risk assessments and valuations

Essential Requirements

Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the construction industry
- Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation
- Good knowledge of standard forms of contract
- Ability to negotiate and draft sub-contracts
- Knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
- Awareness of dispute procedures

Experience

- Extensive experience working on live projects and final accounts
- Experience in value engineering
- Exposure to resolving disputes
- Successfully completed multiple final accounts
- Experience in procuring major works sub-contracts

Technical Skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

- Professional membership of a recognised institute (e.g. RICS)
- Experience in the water industry
- Knowledge of CEMAR and COINS systems

- Attention to detail and accuracy
