What is the Opportunity?
The company is seeking a Systems/Bid Director to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support dynamic, transit projects in Canada. The successful candidate will assist with bids starting at [Address Removed], Toronto, ON, and will transition to the project upon its successful award.
What You Will Do Here:
- Act as the company's point of contact for bid-related activities in one or several pursuits.
- Ensure the bid meets all requirements, manage schedules and budgets and resolve issues to achieve successful bid submissions.
- Collaborate with the client, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and manage project interfaces, both design and construction interfaces.
- Coordinate and drive all workgroup set-up to produce proposal material, e.g. design, procurement, cost estimation and technical proposals.
- Manage design and construction risks.
- Develop and execute bid strategies to deliver successful outcomes, including requirements management, interface management and compliance with bid specifications.
- Lead teams responsible for design, procurement, installation, integration, configuration, testing, and commissioning of rail transit systems.
- Lead the integration and interface of the Systems with civil structures, elevated guideway, tunnels, stations, O&M facilities, as well as with the existing rail rapid transit systems in revenue operation.
- Chair a suite of submission reviews leading up to the eventual submission.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations, including ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to The Team:
- Minimum 15 years in the rail transit sector or a related field, with at least 5 years of supervisory or management experience in bid management.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field; Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or similar designation is considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
- Experience with AREMA, ISO, CENELEC, MIL-STD, and IEEE standards.
- Knowledge of Progressive Design and Build models and other typical contractual structures for the delivery of rail and transit infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory requirements governing passenger rail transit projects.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices sufficient to lead cross functional teams and consultants, including budget and schedule control and planning work programmes.
- Direct working knowledge of trackwork systems, as well as other rail systems such as signalling and automatic train controls, communications systems, and propulsion power supply systems.
- An extensive technical knowledge of systems design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning and application of Systems Engineering processes.
- Sound judgement, highly developed interpersonal skills, well developed organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and Outlook packages).
