The Lechley Community gives free, honest career advice to people in UK construction, through mentoring with someone a few rungs ahead and questions answered in the open; for a director privately weighing a move, I give the same advice one to one, in confidence.
Where can senior construction professionals get honest career advice?
Free in the community, or one to one and confidential.

The numbers
- Pathways: twelve structured routes from first role to director level, one per discipline, with real lessons, real exams and a certificate at the end, all free.
- Mentoring: matched personally with someone a few rungs ahead who will tell you the truth about the move you are weighing up, at no cost.
- Ask anything: CV advice, pay, a move you are weighing up, a contract clause nobody will explain, answered in the open.
- The Exchange: name three things you could teach and three you would like to learn, and a half-hour coffee is booked for you.
- One to one: a confidential conversation, then a weighted map of where you could realistically go and why, with the named decision-maker at each target.
In more detail
The community is built around the things people actually ask me for on calls: how to get from where they are to the next level, what is happening in the market this week, who is moving where, and who they can learn from. It is run by Lechley Associates and paid for by the search work, so there is no premium tier and nothing to buy at the end of a course.
For a director weighing a move, the honest answer is often an uncomfortable one: that a role is wrong for you, that the market does not support your expectations, or that the counter-offer you are being made does not fix the reason you started looking. The test I apply to every target on a list is whether I would work there myself. If you are open to hearing about the right role when it comes up, you can join my register.

Common questions
Is the community really free?
Yes. Everything on community.lechley.com is free. There is no premium tier, no paywall on the pathways and nothing to buy at the end of a course. Sign in is an email address: no password, no card.
Is a one-to-one conversation confidential?
Yes. Every conversation is handled confidentially, and nothing is disclosed to your current employer. You can understand your market value and test specific options without anyone knowing you are looking.
What if I am not actively looking?
That is the usual starting point. The conversation is a confidential sounding board, with no obligation and no pressure.
Will you tell me if a move is wrong for me?
Yes. I will tell you if a role is not right for you, and I will tell you if the market does not support your expectations.
Talk to me
If you are weighing a move, or want a straight read of your market before you decide anything, I would welcome the chance to talk. No hard sell, no obligation.
